I was born in Skegness in 1942, while the world was at war. We couldn’t afford holidays when I was growing up, but that hardly mattered. The beach was my playground and the sea was my escape.
Over the eight decades since, I have watched Skegness change time and again. People have come and gone, theatres have disappeared, and life has taken me through love and loss. But one thing has always remained the same: the sea, and the feeling that Skegness is, and always has been, my home.
